Dan Mirgliatta and Bruce Buffer make cameos but Anderon Silva and Steven Seagal stole the show in the new Brazilian Budweiser ad as the two men stared each other down over a beer. The two men are friends in real life and Seagal takes a lot of credit for Silva’s success in the UFC especially after his big KO win over Vitor Belfort last year.
Silva will be back in action in July against Chael Sonnen in Las Vegas in one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history.
MIB 3 star Will Smith slapped a reporter at the red carpet premiere when the super-friendly reporter tried to kiss him in Moscow, Russia. Smith wasn’t very receptive and after slapping him joked about how he should’ve sucker-punched him. Smith told the Ukrainian repoter, “Hey man, what the hell is your problem?” It was a rare moment of Smith losing his cool. Normally Smith is always in a good mood and joking around with everyone. Men In Black 3 is thought to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer but it will face some competition from ‘The Avengers’ which is still lighting up the box office.
It appears that former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn has turned down a fight with perennial contender Josh Koscheck. Koscheck announced that he accepted the bout on Twitter only to have Penn shoot him down earlier today. Penn has been unofficially retired since losing to Nick Diaz last Fall. He keeps hinting at a return but Lord only knows when he will get back into the octagon.
#UFC just offered me to fight BJ Penn…I said YES!!!!! Just waiting on him!!!!!! Let’s scrap bra?
Ron Paul sent out the following letter to supporters earlier today.
As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.
This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.
Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.
Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.
I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved – become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.
UFC #1 Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen has been training with WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin for his last three fights according to a recent interview with Michael Landsberg this week.
“Part of my arrangement with Mr. Austin is that I don’t get too into it. So youre going to have to let me side step this one. But look, this isn’t anything new. I’ve worked with him for the last three fights.”
“He’s a strength and conditioning coach. He has me out to the ranch, and he puts me through hell for 30 days. And that’s what we use to jump start our training, basically. That’s it. He doesn’t want to be involved and I’m not going to involve him.”
Jon Jones will put his UFc light heavyweight belt on the line against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 in Las Vegas on Sept 1st according to Dana White.
Verbal agreements are in for one of the biggest fights of the year, as Dan Henderson, one of the most accomplished fighters in MMA history, will attempt to dethrone reigning UFC world light heavyweight champion Jon ‘Bones’ Jones at UFC 151 in Las Vegas.
Henderson will attempt to capture Jones’ title and figure out a way to beat the unstoppable champion. ‘Hendo’ is the Strikeforce light heavyweight champ and was the Pride champion when he unified the titles in a loss to Rampage Jackson a few years ago.
Chael Sonnen is the proud owner of a pizza place, Mean Streets Pizza in his hometown in West Linn Oregon. Sonnen will take on UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva in July in Las Vegas for the belt. The outspoken #1 contender has been calling out ‘The Spider’ for two years since their last fight and he will finally get the chance to avenge his loss. The grudge match could be one of the biggest in UFC history.
Sacha Baron Cohen is amping up the PR for the release of his new movie The Dictator. In a press conference he declared he is supporting Mitchell Romney for President and said that if he was elected as President of Israel he would blow up Israel. Cohen knows how to work people and push certain buttons. Some find him offensive but others think he is a comedic genius. Borat was one of the funniest movies I personally have ever seen. I wondered how he would top it and it looks like he might just do it with his new film.
Coldplay covered the Beastie Boys classis ‘Fight for your right to party’ this weekend on tour to pay tribute to Adam “MCA” Yauch one of the founding members of the Beastie Boys who died Friday after battling cancer for several years.
