Now that Rogue One has been released and is one of the biggest movies of 2017 fans are turning their attention to Star Wars Episode 8. The film hasn’t officially received it’s title but there are rumors floating around that Echoes of the Dark Side, The Tale of The Jedi Temple and Forces of Destiny are some of the likely names for the film. It will be released next December and fans are starting to wonder when the trailer will drop.
In a recent interview in the LatinPost.com Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that fans will have to wait a while to see the trailer and it will be released in the spring. When pressed a little harder Kennedy hinted it could debut at the Star Wars Celebration, which will be in April 2017.
Star Wars Celebration will be held April 13-16, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. They will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars IV A New Hope at the event.
May 5 could also be the date for the new trailer. That’s when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters and Disney could use that film as the official kick off for Episode 8-mania.
Episode 8 is expected to pick up on planet Ahch-To where Luke Skywalker is training Rey to be a Jedi. There is supposed to be big showdown between Luke and his padawan against Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren in the film. That is rumor and hearsay and no one really knows what director Rian Johnson has in store or what to expect until the movie comes out late next year.
With the death of Carrie Fisher who plays Princess Leia many are wondering what Disney will do going forward since she is such an important part of the cast. Disney brought her character back with CGI in Rogue One and that could be an option if they didn’t want to kill her off.
Stay tuned to 2017. We should learn a lot more about Episode 8 next year.
