Terminator Genisys could be the smash hit of the summer. The Avengers and Jurassic World did set the bar pretty high but people love Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies and the Terminator franchise is still red hot.
The reviews for Terminator Genisys are pretty bad as you can see below but the film was just released out on Netflix and Redbox and you can now watch it on your computer.
After twenty-five years of failed franchise building, Genisys puts the Terminator series back on track, with a mix of good moments and smart world building that make for entertaining viewing, as well as a solid platform for future franchise expansion. Taylor has improved upon previous paint-by-number Terminator sequels – providing an engaging (though half-cooked) successor to James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Schwarzenegger has turned into your elderly uncle, dancing like a goofball at your wedding after a couple glasses of champagne. He knows he’s being silly, and he knows that you know, and that alone is supposed to be good for a laugh. But it’s not. It’s just sad. He has essentially become McBain.
Clearly, it’s time to say “Hasta la vista, baby,” once and for all.
Still, it’s ultimately another Terminator sequel that fails to live up to the first two movies and it’s hard not to think maybe this should be the end of the line for this series.
